Project Overview

Cloud Yummy is a local catering business based in San Ramon, CA, specializing in crafting personalized, catering sized dishes. They aim to bring joy to peoples' events through unique culinary experiences. They are also dedicated to finding new and innovative ways to enhance client connections and make their service as streamlined and easy-to-use as possible.

Problem

After conducting extensive user research through surveys and interviews, I found that Cloud Yummy’s catering customers often face a slow and confusing booking experience, as orders are currently handled exclusively through phone calls, emails, and in person meetings.

How Might We?

How might we create a customizable, user-friendly access system that provides real-time information, empowering facility managers to seamlessly control entryways and enhance the experience for all users?

Concept Ideation and Low-Fi Prototyping

Using the insights collected from research, I then began basic concept development on the user flow and experience within the app would, by laying out an information architecture and basic hand sketches of key screens within the app. After several rounds of sketching and ideation, I then moved into making a basic grey scale mockup and low fidelity prototype to flush out some concepts I had in mind.

User Testing and Iteration

Using the low-fidelity mockup created in the earlier stage, I conducted user testing to identify pain points and gaps in the overall user flow. This process provided valuable insights, allowing me to refine the design and ensure a smoother, more intuitive user experience.

Final Product

Through numerous rounds of design, feedback, and iteration, I developed a finalized product meticulously tailored to meet user needs. This result reflects a user-centered approach, balancing functionality, aesthetics, and practicality.

Reflections

This project was a valuable opportunity to apply the UX design techniques I gained during my IBM Accelerate experience. One of my biggest takeaways was understanding the truly iterative nature of design—constantly cycling through concept creation, user testing, and refinement. By the end, Cloud Yummy was highly satisfied with the concept designs I delivered, which were successfully handed off to engineers for development. This experience reinforced the importance of adaptability and user-centered thinking in the design process.
